The department of Cell Manipulation Core Facility at Dana Farber
Cancer Institute has an opening for a Materials Management
Supervisor. The Materials Management Supervisor oversees and
performs the tasks related to the ordering, receipt, and
distribution of supplies for use in the labs within the Cell
Manipulation Core Facility. The Materials Management Supervisor has
direct oversight of up to 3 full-time staff members and is
responsible for ordering supplies for complex processing and
approving routine supply orders.Schedule: 8:30am - 5pm, Monday
through Fri. On-call commitment required.Located in Boston and the

- Supervise staff, oversee day-to-day work, and address personnel
issues.
- Write and review SOPs related to Materials Management
Operations.
- Receive incoming materials, supplies, and equipment. Compare
received items to purchase orders to verify accuracy and quantity.
Inspect material for damage and defects and take appropriate
action. Unpack and assemble materials as directed and remove and
dispose of unneeded packing materials.
- Complete and follow-up on Discrepancy Reports.
- Maintain and stock clean room gowning areas with inventory of
personal protective equipment required for class 10,000 clean
room.
- Deliver materials to appropriate locations accurately and
obtain proper authorization of delivered materials.
- Evaluate reagents/supplies/minor equipment upon receipt for
acceptance criteria. Log said items into quarantine inventory.
- Assist in the release of quarantined inventory into working
inventory after completing the proper documentation.
- Assist in preparing containers and other items to be shipped.
Contact appropriate shipping companies when shipping items.
- Maintain records of supply inventory, both manually and on
computer.
- Responsible for maintaining proper documentation of all
incoming and outgoing materials and keeping physical inventories to
include obtaining all certificates of analysis and sterility where
required. Exercise care in handling materials to avoid damage and
breakage.
- Work with lab management to routinely reassess lot sheets based
on trends in usage.
- Place and approve orders for routine lab supplies.
- Place orders for critical supplies and reagents while balancing
shelf life and meeting processing needs.
- Assist in care and maintenance of facilities by supplying
cleaning supplies and keeping a clean work area.
- Receive, distribute, collect, return, assemble, and disassemble
supply kits for daily manufacturing and processing procedures.
- Perform scheduled cleaning of equipment.
- Take call for environment and equipment monitoring.Physical
Demands: Able to lift 50 lbs. without restriction, ability to move
wheeled equipment up to 250 pounds, climb step stool and carry
boxes. This position requires a considerable amount of lifting and
stocking of storage shelves to include, but not limited to, the
moving of reagents, supplies, or equipment. All staff is cautioned
on how to move objects, never to climb on chairs, and to call for
assistance to move anything heavy. Follow all OSHA and Safety
guidelines as well as utilizing Universal Precautions. All staff is
not stationary in their job frequently standing and moving around.
This position requires an individual to be mobile throughout the
day. Exposure to liquid nitrogen is possible.Minimum Education
Requirements:High School diploma required.Minimum Experience: 7+
years of materials management experience required with a minimum of
2 years associated with a lab.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

conditions to supervisor.

procedures, and objectives.
- Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily
operations.
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks based on urgent lab needs and
staffing.
- Demonstrated ability to practice fiscal responsibility in the
review and ordering of supplies.
- Demonstrate ability to coordinate complex projects and complex
assignments.
- Ability to work across multiple teams and staff levels.
- Work within the cGMP and cGTP guidelines and adhere to all
regulatory standards within the Cell Manipulation Core
Facility.
- Ability to enter and retrieve data from computer databases and
