Lighting Supervisor position reports to the Lighting Supervisor and
will provide support in conducting the day-to-day operations of the
Lighting and Projections Department of the Office of the Arts. This
position will help ensure superior production values, safety, and
smooth technical operations in all Office of the Arts venues and
will serve as the Technical Supervisor on Duty. This role will
provide real-time technical and artistic expertise for Office of
the Arts shows and events and will lead a variety of lighting and
projections projects as well as managing the scheduling of
intermittent and student employees. This is an important role that
requires accuracy, attention to detail, and a passion for
theatrical production.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Assist the Lighting Supervisor and Associate Lighting
Supervisor in the logistical planning of selected theater events
and productions; provide technical expertise and supervision to
said events and productions.
- Work with lighting designers to answer questions about the
venue and venue-specific lighting inventory that will be used by
the show and to help create a lighting plot specific to the
venue.
- Work with local rental companies to rent any additional
equipment needed to ensure the success of the lighting design.
- Work with the Lighting Supervisor and the Assistant Lighting
Supervisor to ensure the good working order of the lighting
equipment inventory throughout the venues managed by the Office of
the Arts.
- Repair and maintain equipment as necessary.
- Assist the lead overhire crew and Production Electrician during
all calls, including, but not limited to, with circuiting,
paperwork, and creating a plan for loading a show into the
venue.
- Work with the overhire Programmer to answer any questions about
the lighting console, helping troubleshoot issues as they
arise.
- Serve as the Production Electrician, Programmer, or Technical
Supervisor on Duty for shows as required.
- Complete all necessary administrative work.
- Schedule, train, and support overhire and student
employees.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as
assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree in Theatrical Studies or related discipline
required.
- 1-3 years of experience in theatrical supervision and crew
management. Experience as an Assistant Lead Electrician
preferred.
- Experience with theatrical rigging and counterweight fly
systems required.
- Experience with ETC Lighting Systems including Eos consoles,
Sensor Dimming Systems, and Unison Architectural controls
preferred.
- Experience with Vectorworks and Lightwright preferred.
- Experience servicing automated lighting equipment
preferred.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrable knowledge of lighting and projection equipment
operation.
- Understanding of and basic proficiency in computer-aided
drafting.
- Knowledge of the theatrical industry and OSHA safety procedures
and practices.
- Self-starter with good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in high-stress situations with varied
personalities.PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- This position is active in nature, continuous movement is
required.
- Ability to have continuous oral and written communication with
co-workers and supervisors is essential.
- Repetitive movements, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds,
reaching, pushing, stooping, climbing, and the ability to read a
computer screen, detect color-coding, and read fine print will be
expected.WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position works in a theatre and an office
environment.
- Exposed to moderate noise levels.
- Exposed to dust, heat, chemicals, and fumes.
- Works at height and various stage
elevations.COMPENSATIONCompensation for this position will be
between $17.76 - $20.87 hourly, commensurate with experience.Grade
of Position: 23-03NEScheduled Weekly Hours: 40.00In addition to a
